SCOTT THOROUGH'S PERSONAL FAVORITE MOVIES OF THE DECADE

Despite what angry people on the internet say, or logical fallacies created to support your opinions, or the group think thought mobs of petulant fandoms might say (Joker, Alita, people that choose companies over people whatever), taste is subjective.

The only exception I can think of is people with that cilantro gene that makes you think cilantro tastes like soap. For example, I don’t have that gene and I didn’t like cilantro for most of my adult life. Then my tastes changed. Hopefully, everyone will change and modify their tastes and thoughts as they grow.

Speaking of changing tastes, movies I really loved might not appear here; some things have changed. I have changed, my views have changed. It is what it is. I’m also less interested in boosting movies that have more than plentiful signals. Also, I may have missed things because I only started journaling everything I watch two years ago. Movies that destroyed me a few years ago don’t hold the same feelings now, which is why a spectrum style list feels so right.

Therefore, this is not a list of the greatest movies of the decade. I’m not equipped with that type of objectivity, I’ve not seen every movie that could be evaluated as the best, and I don’t want anyone badgering me for missing something from QT or any “visionary director” I am missing.

When someone asks me my favorite comic, I say “that comics exist.” Sometimes that is enough. When Marcus sent me his idea and draft, I was happy to see a story without the need of explanations (though many of the movies, if you click on, you will find reviews). It was a postmodern take on that GI Joe comic where Snake Eyes is the star and there are no word bubbles.
If you know Marcus, this narrative makes total sense; it’s intrinsically him. If you don’t, you get an idea of what he’s about.

So all Jokers aside, here is an incredibly flawed list of movies that came out this decade that did something for me.
